<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system comprising a CO removing device capable of shortening a start-up time without causing deterioration of a catalyst. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell system comprises a catalyst layer 1 for reducing the concentration of carbon monoxide in a hydrogen-enriched gas, a heat exchange layer 5 for adjusting the temperature of the catalyst layer 1 by heat exchange between the catalyst layer 1 and a medium, a controller 50 for determining whether the catalyst layer 1 is in an active state, a heating means 10 for generating steam by heating the medium, and a pressurizing valve 12 for adjusting the pressure in the heat exchange layer 5. When it is determined that the catalyst layer 1 is not in an active state, steam is generated by the heating means 10 and supplied to the heat exchange means 5, and the pressure in the heat exchange means 5 is adjusted by the pressurizing valve 12 so that the boiling point of the medium falls between a catalyst activating temperature and a catalyst upper limit temperature. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
