<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system capable of purging nitrogen gas or the like from an electrolyte and a fuel electrode passage with a simple system structure without lowering fuel cost property. <P>SOLUTION: Low-nitrogen gas with a lower nitrogen content than air is supplied from a low-nitrogen gas supplying means 40 to a hydrogen gas circulation passage 39 including a fuel electrode 25 when nitrogen is adhered to the fuel electrode 25 and the electrolyte to lower the power generation property. The low-nitrogen gas supplying means 40 stores the low-nitrogen gas mainly composed of oxygen, produced by removing nitrogen from the air supplied from a compressor 3 by a nitrogen separation device 7, to a low-nitrogen gas tank 10. The low-nitrogen gas is supplied to a hydrogen circulation passage 39 through a direction control valve 9 and a low-nitrogen supplying valve 11 from the low-nitrogen gas tank 10 when it becomes necessary to supply the low-nitrogen gas. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
