[Also in Division B5] In the making of a mounting and seating member for the ball of a ball-point pen a heated tube or rod (not shown) of synthetic resin is placed in a mould 7 containing a mould member 5 for forming a ball support chamber and ink guiding grooves, and is compressed by a plunger 6 to conform it to the walls of the mould. Alternatively, the member 5 may form the ball support chamber only, and the ink guiding grooves formed subsequently by re-heating the end portion of the moulded member and inserting therein a suitably profiled mould member.
