A photographic light-sensitive material for the silver-dye-bleach process contains at least one silver halide emulsion layer containing an azo dye of the formula:- wherein X is hydrogen or sulpho, Y is a direct covalent bond, a divalent aromatic residue linked through a -CONH- or -NHCONH- group or a divalent phthalimide residue, Z is -CO or -CONH-, R 1 is hydrogen or alkyl which may be substituted, R 2 is hydrogen, alkyl which may be substituted, alkoxy or halogen, R 3 is hydrogen, alkyl which may be substituted, alkoxy, halogen or acylamino and R 4 and R 5 are each hydrogen, alkyl which may be substituted, alkoxy, halogen, aroxy which may be substituted or acylamine. Or exposure and silver-dye-bleach processing, which may include a black and white reversal step, the material gives magenta images.
