The jaws 16 of a multi-jawed grab are suspended from the grab body 1 by pivoted links 17 and are opened and closed by a ram 9 which is pivoted between the grab body and a cross-head 12 and supplied with hydraulic fluid by a pump 13 and an electric motor 22. A sight glass 34 enables the level of oil in a reservoir 24 to be observed. The ram 9 may be attached to the ram body and the crosshead 12 by either universal or ball and socket joints. The jaws may be locked open or closed or in intermediate positions. The links 17 include blocks 47, Fig. 4, provided with prismatic grooves 54 enclosing co-operating prismatic parts 56 thus providing surfaces 55, 57 which abut when the blocks 47 pivot on the links 17. |
