A flexible, helically-corrugated waveguide has a cross-section derived by symmetrical flattening of a circular guide, the flattening being just sufficient to obviate occurrence of unwanted modes whilst preserving optimum band-width. A formula connecting the degree of flattening and the band-width is given in the Specification. The invention may be applied to guides having welded seams, the flattening being effected continuously as the waveguide is made. In the drawing two such waveguides 1, 2 transmitting two different frequency bands, are arranged side-by-side within a common plastic sheath 3. The flattened sides of the waveguide may be provided with a dielectric loading ridge or a discontinuous series of ridges. |
