[Also in Division G5] A playback head is associated with an amplifier which includes either a series resonant circuit forming a major part of the load impedance of an amplifying device or a parallel resonant circuit common to the input and output circuits of an amplifying device the circuit having a resonance characteristic which produces in the transfer characteristic of the amplifier a deformation such as to compensate for distortion introduced in the signal by the play back head. The playback head has an equivalent circuit 21, the output signal from which is fed to a cathode follower 25 and thence to a transistor amplifier 27, 35. In one embodiment the collector 30 load of the transistor 27 has a series resonant circuit 31 connected in parallel across it. Alternatively, a parallel resonant circuit is included in the emitter circuit of the second transistor (Fig. 6, not shown). |
