1,269,051. Making fuse links. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. 27 Feb., 1969 [28 Feb., 1968], No. 9616/68. Heading B3A. [Also in Division H2] A fuse link comprises a tubular cover 1, metal end plates 2 carrying metal dished support discs 3 at each end of the tube and a plurality of fusible elements 5. The elements 5, which may be of silver, are formed from strip material and have bent ends 8 which project through radial slots (4, Fig. 1, not shown) in the discs 3, which may be of brass and are soldered to the disc and plate surfaces, both of which may be silver plated. A jig is employed in the assembly of the fuse elements permitting rotation of the sub-assembly to present each slot position to a working position where the elements are inserted, coated with flux and soldered. The tube 1, which may be of resin bonded insulating material, is then forced on and screwed to the end plates. An arc-quenching sand may be poured around the elements 5 through apertures (9) in one end plate. |
