Compounds of the general formula wherein R is hydrogen or a halogen; R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP>, R<SP>4</SP> and R<SP>5</SP> are hydrogen, a halogen, an alkyl residue having 1 to 5 carbon atoms or a XHggroup, X being an anion; the compounds being labelled with radio-active mercury, are prepared by reacting a radio-active ionic mercury compound and an excess of the fluorescein derivative. Specified compounds prepared by the process of the invention are: difluoresceinyl mercury; bis - (2<SP>1</SP>,7<SP>1</SP> - dibromofluoresceinyl) mercury; bis - (4<SP>1</SP>,5<SP>1</SP> - dibromofluoresceinyl) mercury; bis - (4<SP>1</SP>,5<SP>1</SP> - diiodofluoresceinyl) mercury; bis - (2<SP>1</SP>,7<SP>1</SP> - diiodofluoresceinyl) mercury; bis - (tetrabromofluoresceinyl) mercury; and bis - (tetraiodofluoresceinyl) mercury. Each of these may be labelled with <SP>203</SP>Hg or <SP>197</SP>Hg. |
