The table 20 of a machine which may be of the type used for measuring linearity has four supports in two pairs at a given longitudinal distance from one another with one support of each pair, such as that shown at 23, 24, on each of the top adjacent surfaces 15b, 17 of a guide bar 11 while a fifth support 25 is situated in the median plane between these two pairs and rests on the guide bar at a different level 18 to that of the other two supports resting on the same surface. The bar 11 may be solid or tubular and has planed strips to provide paths for the supports which are preferably formed by rollers. The larger side of the rectangular cross-section of the bar forms an angle of 30 to 60 degrees, say 45 degrees, to the vertical. |
