A diaphragm 2 for use with a stethoscope chestpiece 1 comprises a flat flexible body 3 with a lip 4 adapted to engage an annular member 8 of a chestpiece and hold the diaphragm thereto. The lip 4 may be of greater thickness than the body 3, which may be circular. The diaphragm may have a bevelled surface 14 adjacent the lip, which surface cooperates with a corresponding surface 10 on the chestpiece to centralise the diaphragm on the chestpiece. Both diaphragm and chestpiece may be of a plastics material. An adhesive material may be used to secure the diaphragm in position on a patient. |
