A machine tool comprises a fluidpressure operated chuck, the control means including a distributer 30 mounted on the chuck axis and a two-position control valve 11 so that the chuck may be operated to grip internally or externally. Appropriate jaws 20 or 21 are actuated by levers controlled by a draw-spindle attached to a piston 25. The spool of the valve 11 is adjusted angularly through 90 degrees according to whether external or internal gripping is required. Several chucks are carried on a turret 16 on the axis 57 of which a distributer valve 58 is mounted. Closing and opening movements of each chuck are controlled by a cam 87 and solenoids 75, 76 actuating a reversing valve 61 through a lever 74. |
