摘要 1,221,377. Photo-electric sensing of gyroscope attitude. HONEYWELL Inc. May 28, 1969 [May 28, 1968], No.27003/69. Heading G1A. The spherical rotor 10 of a gyroscope spins relative to a support 12 about a spin axis which varies in orientation relative to the support, this variation being sensed by two or more pick-offs which monitor a pattern 14 on the surface of the rotor. Since no meaningful information can be obtained from a pick-off monitoring a polar region of the rotor, the positioning of the pick-offs and the design of the circuitry, is such that the output of only one pick-off - that which is monitoring a preferred range of latitudes on the rotor - is selected to be indicated at any one time. Although it is stated that the pattern may be magnetic or luminous, appropriate pick-offs being used, the embodiment described uses a rotor bearing light and dark pattern areas, and photo-electric pickoffs 20 and 22 associated with respective light sources 16, 18. The output of each photo-detector is of square waveform, the mark-space ratio being proportional to the width of the dark and reflecting areas passing the detector. The preferred zone to be monitored is that B, as opposed to polar regions A, C. The detector circuitry is arranged to provide three indications:- the value of latitude, or angular attitude, of the rotor with respect to the support (indicator 46); an indication (at 42) of which detector is monitoring the zone B; and an indication at 86 of which hemisphere of the rotor ("north" or "south") is being monitored. All these indications are fed to a computer 90 which keeps track of the total angular movement through 360 degrees of the rotor. For detector selection indication, the output from detector 18 is filtered (28) and the amplitude of the resulting signal analyzed by detectors 30, 32 and logic 34 to decide if it is viewing the preferred zone B. If it is, gate 36 is opened to allow detector 22 output to be indicated. If it is not, then detector 20, which is 90 degrees displaced with respect to detector 20, must be viewing zone B, and gate 40 is therefore opened to allow its output to be indicated. At the same time, the logic 34 feeds detector indicator 42 with the required information. For hemisphere indication, the output of the detector 20 only is used in order to detect when it passes by the rotor equator. The output is fed to a function generator which generates a perfect squarewave simulating the signal which the detector would generate when level with the equator, against which the detector output itself is compared by flip-flop 78. When the detector pulses are longer than the "equator" squarewave an output is produced on line 82 and when shorter on line 84. The squarewave function generator is detailed in Fig.2 (not shown), and utilizes a trigger circuit turned off by its own output received through a delay path whose time constant is modified by an integrator circuit in dependence on the deviation of the trigger output from a true squarewave.
