Novel derivatives of nicotinic acid of the formula wherein R is a nicotinoyl radical and x is 1 to 4 and physiologically acceptable acid addition salts thereof are prepared reacting 1 mole of tris- (hydroxymethyl)-aminomethane with x moles of nicotinic acid or reactive derivative thereof, or by reacting tris-(hydroxymethyl)nitromethane with 1 to 3 moles of nicotinic acid or reactive derivative and reducing the acylated derivative thus obtained, or by acylating a tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane derivative in which one or more of the active hydrogen atoms have been protected by formation of acetals and removing the acetal groups from the resulting compounds. |
