940,136. Purifying olefine polymers. VEREINIGTE GLANZSTOFF-FABRIKEN A.G. April 25, 1962 [April 28, 1961], No. 15816/62. Heading C3P. Polymers of olefines e.g. polypropylene, which have been prepared from a Zeigler-type catalyst in the presence of organic dispersing agents are freed from catalyst residues by (1) removing a major proportion of the dispersing agent by filtration, (2) distilling off residual dispersing agent in the absence of oxygen, and (3) treating the resulting dry powder a number of times with anhydrous methyl alcohol, in the absence of oxygen, at a pressure of from 1 to 10 atmospheres and a temperature of from 65 to 150‹C. The dispersing agent has preferably a boiling point between 60 and 100‹C. The exemplified catalyst is a mixture of TiCl 3 and Al (C 2 H 5 ) 3 . |
