An electrical connector 10 for mounting in an apertured surface 82 comprises a part 12 constituted by an insulating body 16 housing terminals 36 and carrying an integral arm 64 spaced from the body and adapted to engage in an aperture 76 of the surface when mounted therein with the terminals 36 parallel to the surface. As shown, the part 12 has a complementary receptacle 14 carrying terminals 48 for socket contacts. The body 16 has side walls 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 30 defining a cavity 32 to house terminals 36 which are connected to tubular members 40 which admit external wire connections 42. The resilient arm 64 is carried by two guide members 60, 62 attached to a platform 54 on the side wall 20, and includes a locking nib 68 and a shoulder formation 72, the latter engaging in assembly an edge 92 of a second aperture 78. A modification (Figs. 5-6, not shown) uses in place of member 64, a hollow resilient cylindrical member (110) integral with the part corresponding to 12. The cylindrical member (110) has a pair of shoulders (118, 120) engaging the sides of an aperture in the mounting surface. |
