<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode material capable of obtaining a graphite based negative electrode which sufficiently works even in a propylene- carbonate based or γ-butyrolactone based electrolyte. <P>SOLUTION: This powder-like negative electrode material for lithium secondary battery has a structure formed by sticking a carbonaceous material having more inferior crystallinity to a graphite base carbonaceous material, and conditions (a)-(d) are satisfied with it. (a) It contains 50-99.5 wt.% of the graphite carbonaceous material and 0.5-50 wt.% of the carbonaceous material having more inferior crystallinity, (b) the ratio of peak strength ABC (101) based on rhombic graphite layer orientation in an X-ray wide angle diffraction method (XRD) to peak strength AB (101) based on hexagonal graphite layer orientation is not less than 0.01, (c) the spacing d002 of the graphite based carbonaceous material by the XRD is less than 3.37 angstrom, and the spacing d002 of the carbonaceous material having more inferior crystallinity is not less than 3.37 angstrom, and (d) first efficiency is not less than 70%, when evaluating the negative electrode with Li used as a counter electrode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
