1285783 Blocky diamond powder particles E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 29 July 1969 [8 Aug 1968] 37931/69 Heading C1A Diamond powder is treated to make the individual particles "blocky" in shape i.e. approximately cubic or spherical, by a process comprising passing the powder through a fluidenergy mill. The mill is operated at a gas pressure of 75-125 p.s.i.g. using an anhydrous treating gas moving at 500-600 ft./sec., the mill being lined with a replaceable abrasionresistant material. Suitable raw diamond powder may range from Grade ¢ (0-1 micron) to Grade 100 (125-150 microns). Air and nitrogen are suitable treating gases. |
