<p>PRODUCTION OF PATTERNED ROTARY SIEVE PRINTING STENCILS. N3B. By (a) forming a grating in the surface of a metal mother roller, (b) filling the depressions formed with an electrically insulating material, (c) coating the whole surface with a thin metal layer by an electroless method, (d) applying a photochemical lacquer over the metal layer, (e) imagewise exposing the lacquer through a non-lattice original, (f) developing and curing the lacquer, (g) removing the parts of the thin metal layer not covered by the lacquer, (h) removing the remaining cured lacquer from the surface, (i) nickel plating the mother roller until the desired layer thickness is obtained, and (j) removing the fully patterned rotary sieve printing stencil from the mother roller. The method enables patterned rotary sieve printing stencils to be produced more conveniently. Time consuming operations, such as normal retouching, are avoided. In addition, the lacquer is not present during nickel plating, so that stencils of high quality are produced.</p> |
