1284308 Suspended ceilings J L PICATOSTE 15 Dec 1969 [14 Dec 1968] 61102/69 Heading E1W A suspended ceiling comprises panels 5 formed from flat sheet with two opposite edge portions turned up and each carrying a lug 10, a plurality of joists 6 suspended from the building structure by rods 1 and turnbuckles 2, and spacing means 3 extending between adjacent joists, each joist having an upper horizontal flange 7 substantially vertically disposed above a lower horizontal flange 11 and connected thereto by a web 9 which extends upwardly from a zone between the edges of the flange 11, through a laterally deflected upper web portion 9" to a zone at an edge of the upper flange 8, the lugs 10 resting on the lower flanges and a turned up edge portion 12 of each panel defining an inclined step normally engaging underneath the full width of the lower flange. A second upper flange 8 may be provided which defines with the flange 7 an upwardly open cavity for reception of a foot 2 on the turnbuckle or rod. |
