The components of a side-by-side conjugate filament are a polyamide and a polyester derived from ethylene glycol and a bis (pp<SP>1</SP>- carboxy phenoxy) C 2-6 alkane. The polyamide may be nylon- 6, 6À6, 6À8 or 6/6À6. The polyester may be contain up to 10% of repeat units derived from a C 3-6 alkylene glycol or diethylene glycol; and up to 20% of repeat units derived from terephthalic acid. The filament is drawn immediately after extrusion or after storing at a relative humidity of at least 65% and a temperature of 71-73‹ F; and heated during drawing by passing over a hot plate or snubbing pin at a temperature of at least 100‹ C. |
