<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of manufacturing a PAS having a high purity and a high molecular weight for a short time and in a good efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a poly(arylene sulfide) by polymerizing a sulfidating agent with a dihalogenated aromatic compound in an organic amide solvent, contains the following at least three processes; process 1: a process to increase the amount of water in the reaction system, process 2: a process to decrease the amount of water in the reaction system, and process 3: a process to carry out the solid-liquid separation of an obtained slurry containing the organic amide solvent and a poly(arylene sulfide) at temperatures below 120°C. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
