<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily manage a print width and a line synchronization signal before and after horizontal scanning magnification correction. <P>SOLUTION: A line synchronous signal including one for the number of correction picture elements is generated on the basis of a horizontal scanning synchronous signal. Original data are made pre-correction revision image data by allocating a part other than an effective image data portion to white picture elements. Horizontal scanning magnification correction is given to the pre- correction revision image data to generate correction image data. By expanding a print area, white picture elements in a part breaking into white picture elements are replaced by a data value after expansion and white picture elements poking out of an effective image range are discarded. In reducing, picture element data on both sides or one side that get short of picture elements is allocated to white picture elements. Before and after magnification correction, as the print area changes, the image width in the horizontal scanning direction can be corrected. The number of picture elements in an effective period, including flag picture elements, does not change before and after correction. As the same width as the effective image range of the synchronous signal is maintained, the synchronous signal before and after correction can be made common. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
