[Also in Division B8] In a suction cleaner a rotatable reel 34 for storing an electric supply cord 40 is enclosed in a housing 41 having an opening at one side through which the cord 40 extends, and a lever 72 projecting from the other side thereof operable to release the cord 40 to permit it to be wound on the reel 34. The lever 72 is tilted about a pivot 74 by depressing a pedal 8 against the action of a torsion spring 90, to raise a braking roller 82 from the cord 40, which may then be withdrawn manually from the reel 34 or permitted to be wound thereon by a spring 38 (Fig. 4, not shown). |
