1280345 Producing distorted images CEBAL G P 11 July 1969 [12 July 1968] 35021/69 Heading G2J [Also in Division B6] In a method of decorating a blank which is to be pressed into the form of a tin, the design 100 to be formed in the wall of the tin is placed inside a transparent truncated cone 2 having two bases and an axial hole, all with a cross-section similar to that of the tin to be formed. The design 100 is then illuminated and photographed through a lens 4 which so distorts the light rays that, when the negative 110 produced by the camera 3 is printed on a blank, e.g. by photo-gravure, offset print or xerographic methods, any distortions produced in the pressing are cancelled out and a perfect copy of the original design is produced. The Specification describes how to design the correcting lens 4, the method involving pressing an experimental tin and noting the distortions produced in the pressing. |
