A glass consists of (weight per cent):- SiO 2 . . 64-69 Na 2 O . . 8-11 K 2 O . . 7-10 Al 2 O 3 . . 3-5 MgO . . 0-3 CaO . . 1-4 BaO . . 0-12 # where BaO+2SrO SrO . . 1-7 # = 11-14 CeO 2 . . 0À05-0À3 As 2 O 3 and/or Sb 2 O 3 . . 0À3-0À7 The glass may be used as the envelope or face-plate in a cathode-ray tube, e.g. a colour television tube, and has a coefficient of thermal expansion of approximately 100 x 10<SP>-7</SP>/<SP>‹</SP> C. which is compatible with that of many existing glasses and metal components to which the parts are to be sealed. |
