1,151,032. Electrical cable. MOULINAGE ET RETORDERIE DE CHAVANOZ. 19 Jan., 1967 [20 Jan., 1966; 17 June, 1966], No. 2966/67. Heading H1A. An electrical cable having high tensile strength and a low time constant comprises at least two parallel enamel-coated conductors 1, 1<SP>1</SP> enclosed in a core 2 of parallel filaments of an alkali glass consolidated by a covering yarn 3 of nylon, the whole being coated with a polyvinyl chloride plastisol to form a thick coating 4 and enclosed in an outer coating of polyvinyl chloride or neoprene 5. In an alternative arrangement, Fig. 5, not shown, the core consists of two conductors running along a central alkali-glass filament to which they are stuck diametrically opposite to one another by means of a thermo-adhesive substance, this assembly being surrounded by parallel alkali-glass filaments consolidated by nylon yarn and plastics coated as before. The distance between conductors is preferably half the diameter of the finished cable. To make the cable metal wires 1, 1<SP>1</SP> and glass filaments 2 are drawn through a bobbin 12 provided with a ring 13 and traveller 13A which wind the nylon 3 over the core, the whole then being coated by repeated immersion in a bath of the plastisol (not shown) and finally wound on to a spool 16. |
