[Also in Division D1] The seamless, heel-less, stretch tube stocking of the parent Specification is modified by the use of stretchable non- torque thermoplastic yarn for the tubular portion T between the welt and toe instead of yarns having torque in opposite directions in alternating courses. The yarn is self crimping nylon and of 10-30 preferably 15 denier, and may be multi- or monofilament. The toe end 12 is preferably knit of 45 denier multi-filament self crimping nylon and the welt 10, 11 may be of similar yarn or other stretchable yarn or non-stretchable yarn. The stocking is boarded on a heel-less form and contracts from the broken line to the solid line configuration twelve to twenty-four hours after being removed from the form. The narrow lower portion C is stretchable coursewise from three to four times its relaxed width to enable it to be pulled over the heel of the wearer and to conform thereto. |
