1292996 Separating oligomerization or alkylation effluents UNIVERSAL OIL PRODUCTS CO 17 March 1970 [24 March 1969] 12734/70 Heading C5E A process for separating a reaction zone effluent comprising at least 3 components (A, B and C) comprises (i) separating the effluent in a first separation zone into a first fraction comprising vapour A and a second fraction comprising B and C; (ii) absorbing A in a lean absorbent and passing the rich absorbent from the absorption zone to the reaction zone; (iii) separating the second fraction in a second separation zone into a third fraction comprising B and a fourth fraction comprising C; and (iv) passing at least part of B to (ii) as lean absorbent. The process is particularly applied to an olefin oligomerization process where A is the vaporous diluent (e.g. propane), B is partially oligomerized product and C is olefin oligomer (e.g. propylene trimer or tetramer). The process may also be applied to an olefin-aromatic alkylation where A is the vaporous diluent (e.g. ethane or propane), B is alkylable aromatic (e.g. benzene) and C is the alkylated product (e.g. ethylbenzene or cumene).
