<p>1,261,031. Dyeing with polymerizable dyes. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 16 April, 1969 [17 April, 1968], No. 18108/68. Heading C3P. [Also in Divisions C2 and D1] Fibrous materials or polymeric films are coloured by treating with a polymerization initiator and with a solution of an azo dyestuff having at least one sulphonic acid group and of general formula (A) in which. E is a residue of a coupling component, Y is hydrogen or halogen or an alkyl, alkoxy, sulphamyl, mono- or di-alkyl substituted sulphamyl or sulphonic acid radical, n is 0 or 1, R and R<SP>1</SP> each independently represent hydrogen or a lower alkyl group or when n is 1 R and R<SP>1</SP> together may form a bridging group, each X is a group of formula (B) in which R 1 and R 2 are each hydrogen or halogen or an alkyl radical, R 3 is hydrogen or halogen or an alkyl or aryl radical or a carbonylic acid or carbonylic ester group. The polymerization initiator may be applied with the dyestuff or afterwards or before and preferably 1-500% by weight based on weight of the dyestuff is used. Substrates to be coloured include wool, cotton, cellulose acetate, leather, synthetic polyamides, polyurethanes, polyacrylonitriles, silk and viscose or Bemberg rayons. Other polymerizable monomers, e.g.α-olefins and vinyl compounds may be present during polymerization. Polymerization initiators include ammonium persulphates and sodium metabisulphite, hydrogen peroxide and thiourea or di-t.-butyl diperphthalate and urea.</p> |
