AIR BAG DEVICE FOR PROTECTING KNEE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air bag for protecting a knee for enabling a deploying and expanding air bag to precisely protect a kneecap of a seated occupant by preventing pressure on the leg of the occupant.

SOLUTION: The air bag 35 of this air bag device for protecting the knee is disposed on a front side from the vicinity of the leg of the seated occupant to the vicinity of the kneecap when completing expansion. The air bag is provided with upper and lower tethers 45 and 49 for regulating thickness to connect an occupant side wall part 41 and a vehicle body side wall part 42 with each other. In the upper and lower tethers 45 and 49, connecting portions 48 and 52 each other with the occupant side wall part 41 are disposed on upper and lower sides in the vicinity of the front of the leg when completing expansion to have a separating distance h2 shorter than a separating distance h1 of the vertical direction of connecting portions 47 and 51 each other with the vehicle body side wall part 42. As a width dimension of left and right directions of the air bag 35 when completing expansion, a portion 36 on an upper side of the connecting portion 52 to the occupant side wall part 41 of the lower tether 49 is made to have a width in which the vicinities of both kneecaps of the occupant can be protected, and a portion 37 on a lower side of the connecting portion 52 is narrowed downward.
