Apparatus suitable for dispensing foam comprises a deformable reservoir 12 containing a quantity of liquid 18 and provided with an aperture 16, an elongated porous foamproducing element 22 located within the reservoir in contacting relation with both the air 20 therein and the liquid 18, and a cap 34 including a dicharge orifice 38 communicating with the aperture 16 and a cavity 23 defined by the wall 24 of the element 22 whereby compression of the reservoir 12 forces air and liquid through the wall 24 to form a foam within the cavity 23, said foam being discharged through the orifice 38. The element 22 exhibits a wicking action in contact with the liquid and is thoroughly wetted thereby. The element may comprise a sponge cloth of cellulose reinforced by a member (46), fig. 3 (not shown). An air return valve may be provided in the upper portion of the reservoir. Figs. 4-6 (not shown) depict alternative constructions for the porous element. |
