1314885 Two-part couplings BUNKER-RAMO CORP 19 June 1970 [10 July 1969] 29982/70 Heading H2E A socket contact 20 and a pin contact 22 each made from a single piece sheet metal stamping are mounted in indentical insulating bodies 10 and are each crimped by arms 34, 32 to the conductor and insulation respectively of a cable 36. The central portion of each contact is formed with slots 38 defining ribs 40 whose central portions 46 are radially indented to form a circumferential groove having sloping edges 48. This groove releasably seats on a projection 16 in the bore 14 of the insulating body 10, this projection having complementary sloping edges 17 so that the contact may be removed. The contact end of the socket contact 20 is formed into a tube of smaller diameter than the projection 16, the socket being held rigid by a dovetail 52. The pin contact 22 has its contact end formed with two resilient arms (54, Fig. 2, not shown) biased apart. A plurality of contacts may be accomodated in each insulating body. |
