<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-tube reactor which is so contrived as to compensate for the volume reduction portion in each reaction tube even if the catalyst in each reaction tube is pulverized to decrease the packing quantity owing to the heat cycles during a long period. <P>SOLUTION: The multi-tube reactor, when applied to a reformer, comprises in the reactor 1 a plurality of reaction tubes 2, each of which is filled with a catalyst 5 and is arranged vertically at an equal interval along the circumferential direction and also has the bottom part 2 connected to a raw material fuel chamber 3 as well as the top part connected to a space layer 4 (a space chamber) and moreover is made to pass continuously through therebetween. The same catalyst as the catalyst 5 or the packing auxiliary 6 of the almost same size as that of the catalyst 5 is made to fill up in the space layer 4 at a suitable height. When the catalyst 5 in each reaction tube 2 is pulverized owing to a long-hour operation to decrease the packing quantity, the packed auxiliary 6 falls down into the reaction tube 2 and compensates for the volume reduction portion of the catalyst 5. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
