<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly efficient optical amplifier and optical amplifier components for a 1500 nm band which has excellent mechanical strength and weather resistance property. <P>SOLUTION: The optical amplifiers 1-1, 1-2 use, as an optical amplifying medium, Er-added optical fiber where Er is added at least to either one of a core and a clad or an Er-added waveguide where Er is added at least to either one of the core and the clad formed on a substrate. At least one optical amplifier is provided and this optical amplifier is comprised of an optical amplifying medium and an excited light source. At least one optical filter 2 is provided and this optical filter is configured to control the optical amplification of a first wavelength band by reducing the light beam of the first wavelength band which shows the maximum gain among wavelength bands where the gain can be obtained by the optical amplifying medium. With this controlling process, the optical amplification of a second wavelength band located at the hem in the low wavelength side to show a comparatively small gain can be accelerated among the wavelength bands where the gain can be obtained by the optical amplifying medium, and thereby an optical signal of the amplified second wavelength band can be outputted. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
