Natural, synthetic or blended yarns in staple or continuous filament form are fed to a tufting machine, where loops are stitched into a paper or plastic carrier material. The carrier with its looped "pile" is passed to a heat fixing process where the loops are fixed, the yarn is unpicked and then wound on to a warp beam. The purpose is to provide an economic yarn crimping process which also bypasses the costly spooling and unwinding stage between crimping and end use.
|
