Yarn fusion-joining tool has a slot in which two ends of thermoplastic yarn are laid in overlapping relationship side-by-side to be subjected to pressure between a pair of relatively moveable jaws. An electric heater melts and severs the ends at a point spaced from the jaws, and the fusion runs back along the yarn ends to solidify at the jaws and make the joint. Especially for carpet yarns, which are so thick that knotting is unacceptable. |
