Heald control - with circular grooved paths to operate circular loom shafts giving twill weave

A central control unit for the circular loom is fitted with two circular grooves which adopt a different radius every 180 degrees and which cross each other at 120 degrees. Guide rollers ride in these grooves to move push rods and operate rack and pinion mechanisms to raise and lower the shafts to develop a heald motion suitable for the warps to give a twill weave effect. The system can operate progressively to give a rolling heald motion for shuttles to pass round progressively.
