PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital image processing method for deciding the positions of one's eyes and mouth in a digital facial picture capable of effectively operating calculation with robustness. SOLUTION: This method comprises steps 201-206 for detecting iris colored pixels in a digital face image, a step 208 for grouping the iris color pixels into clusters and detecting the positions of one's eyes by using the iris colored pixel clusters, a step 212 for identifying feature expressing pixels related with the features of one's face in the digital face image and generating a signature curve by using the feature expressing pixels, and a step 214 for deciding the position of one's mouth by using the signature curve and the position of one's eyes. In a preferred embodiment, the positions of one's eyes are decided by using the method of the summation of squared difference. In another preferred embodiment, the positions of one's eyes and mouth are validated by using a statistical method. |
