<p>A nonwoven floor covering consists of a service of needled thermoplastic fibres, pref. nylon, polyester or polypropylene, bonded to a backing. The helically crimped staple fibres are produced by heat setting bundles of filaments yarns and cutting. Staple length may be between 2.5 and 23 cm. A cross-fibres web is produced and without pre-needling it is needled to a backing. The backing may be needled, woven or knitted fabric, or rubber or plastics sheet. The composite needled structure is impregnated with an acrylic resin or styrene butadiene latex and heat cured. The ratio of fibre to bonding agent may be between 2:1 and 10:1.</p> |
