1379239 Laminates INMONT CORP 8 Dec 1971 [3 Feb 1971] 03884/74 Divided out of 1379238 Heading B5N A substrate is adhesively secured to a surface by sub-coating the substrate with a blend comprising a solvent activatable adhesive and an epoxy resin, drying the sub-coat, top-coating the sub-coated substrate with a mixture of a tackifying solvent for the solvent activatable adhesive and a curing activator for the epoxy resin, and applying the top-coated substrate to the surface. The solvent-activatable adhesive may be selected from neoprene-phenolic resin adhesives, nitrile-phenolic resin adhesives, or styrene-butadiene rubber adhesives. The epoxy resin may be bisphenol A-epichlorohydrin resins, glycidyl ether resins or novolac epoxy resins. The tackifying solvent may be 1,1,1-trichloroethane, methylethyl ketone, perchloroethylene, toluene, xylene, petroleum naphtha or acetone. The curing activator may be a polyamide cyclic aliphatic amine, aromatic amine, primary, secondary or tertiary amine. The subcoat may include a first colourant and the top coat a second, different colourant, the colour of the top coated substrate being a product of a blend of the colours of the first and second colourant. The substrate may be a laminated panel. |
