The component consists of granular mainly open cell cellular material such as silica foam in which a reduced pressure exists in the cells. In the prefd. process the granular material is mixed with an epoxy-resin-hardener mix and the resultant mixture is introduced into a mould where it is allowed to set in a vacuum. Components, which may include plates and pipe sleeves, made in this way have excellent heat insulating props. |
