PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new protein having a glucose transporter activity, a DNA coding for the protein, a method of screening a compound promoting or inhibiting the activity of the protein and a compound or the like obtained by the screening method. SOLUTION: This protein having an amino acid sequence the same or substantially the same as a specific amino acid sequence having glucose transporter activity originating from human is useful as a diagnostic marker or the like for diabetic mellitus or the like, and the compound promoting or inhibiting the activity of the protein obtained by a screening method using the protein is usable for a preventative/medicine for diseases for example, diabetic mellitus, hyperlipidemia or the like. |
