Cover for a bath tub comprises a full-length plate, resistant to bending, which ahs >=1 hinge -type fitting, pref. at one of its longer edges, which is adapted for fastening to a wall or pref. at the edge of the bath tub. The cover has a tray-shaped plastics underside, pref. of an acrylic resin, with which a stiffening laminate of GFR plastics, plywood, or the like, is connected. The article make the most of space available in bathrooms because it enables relatively bulky objects e.g. UV lamps for domestic use to be placed on it thus utilising the area otherwise taken up by the bath tub.
