Under sea listening buoys are released and flaot on a parachute to the water. An inflatable float maintains the buoy at a predetermined depth and is fastened to the parachute by a line. This is released against spring action when the buoo contacts the water. A cruciform-section parachute carries a float balloon (31) in its central area. The balloon has a whip antenna (32) fixed to its material by a rigid disc (33). The lower part of the balloon has an opening (34) around which is a tubular section (33) of a enclosure (36e which houses a radio transmitter. Suspension lines (37) from the parachute are connected to a central part (38) to which is anchored the load (40) line (39).
