PURPOSE:To confirm whether the record exists in a magnetic tape or not, at the same time of recording, by using a recording and reproducing head being in a nonoperation state, and confirming the contents which are recorded in the magnetic tape, at the time of recording. CONSTITUTION:When a recording operation is being executed in a standard mode, a video signal is applied to heads A1, A2 for the standard mode, they are rotated with a rotary drum in the direction as indicated with an arrow, and the video signal is recorded in a magnetic tape 2. In this case, when a reproducing operation is executed by heads B1, B2 for a high density recording and reproducing mode, which are in a nonoperation state, the signal which is recorded by the heads A1, A2 is reproduced. Also, when a recording operation is being executed in an extended play mode, a video signal is applied to the heads B1, B2, and the video signal is recorded in the tape 2. In this case, the contents which are recorded by the heads B1, B2 are reproduced by the heads A1, A2. In this way, rewinding and reproducing operations for confirming the record are made unnecessary, and the misrecording is prevented. |
