PURPOSE:To apply proper pressure easily by only regulating air supply into a bag-shaped spacer inspite of a variety in thickness of a pole plate group by applying pressure on the pole plate group through compressed air fed into a bag-shaped spacer after fousing it in a battery jar. CONSTITUTION:A bag-shaped spacer made airtightly of synthetic resin and rubber is arranged on both end surfaces of the pole plate group for being housed in a battey jar. Thereby, the bag-shaped spacer 1 is free from air and even when this is put on the pole plate group, a gas still remains between the battery jar partition wall 5 and itself so as to be able to perform housing. Next, the bag-shaped spacer 1 swells by feeding compressed air into said spacer from air blowing-in opening 2 thus to apply pressure on the pole plate group. By stopping air supply when the air pressure inside the bag-shaped spacer 1 reaches the desired value, the constant desired pressure can always be applied enen the pole plate group varies in thickness. The air blow-in opening is sealed after the desired air pressure is reached. |
