PURPOSE:To ignite and burn combustible mixture surely by a method wherein a plularity of discharging electrodes are provided at the vicinity of a fuel injection valve while intermediate electrodes are arranged at the vicinity of discharging spaces formed between respective discharging electrodes. CONSTITUTION:An annular discharging electrode section 8 is provided at the vicinity of the fuel injection valve 5 coaxially therewith. The discharging electrode section 8 is provided with a plurality of intermediate electrodes 20-25 at the inner peripheral surface 11b thereof with equal spaces. The third intermediate electrodes 30-36 are arranged at the vicinity of the discharging spaces 16, formed between the ignition electrode 12 as well as a grounding electrode 15 and the intermediate electrodes 20-25, at positions slightly deviated in the axial direction of the fuel injection valve. According to this method, the number of discharging spaces are increased and the chance of contact between the mist of the fuel and discharging sparks is also increased, therefore, the combustible mixture may be ignited and burnt surely. |
