PURPOSE:To eliminate the output of an infrared ray sensor by providing stripe- shaped electrode films crossing each other on the surface and back of pyroelectric film as pyroelectric element used for the infrared ray sensor. CONSTITUTION:A pyroelectric element 14 is provided with a transparent stripe- shaped electrode 14b on the surface of a pyroelectric film 14a comprising vinylidene fluoride based resin or the like having a spontaneous polarization and likewise with a stripe-shaped electrode 14c on the back thereof, where both the electrodes 14b and 14c are arranged to be perpendicular to each other almost at the center of the pyroelectric film 14a. Therefore, as there is no electrode formed both on the surface and back in the periphery of the pyroelectric element 14, a stable pyroelectric element can be obtained without short-circuiting of electrodes on the surface and back when a continuous pyroelectric film is punched into the shape of an element after the electrodes are formed on the surface and back thereof by evaporation or the like. |
