PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change a conventional food washing machine so that water for washing food is effectively saved without placing a burden on an operator and the quality control can be carried out without causing a considerable quality degradation of food. SOLUTION: The water conservation apparatus and the quality control apparatus are installed in a food washing machine which washes food with water by supplying food washing water to the food and which is equipped with a means for detecting the degree of clarity of food washing water supplied to decrease the amount of food washing water supplied and a means for detecting the degree of contamination of food washing water supplied to increase the amount of food washing water supplied.
